OH My Aching Feet

So I worked wed-fri last week. My boss wasnt there one day so I had to do most of the stuff on my own..holy crap! I can't believe they let people with NO experience fill prescriptions LOL They are checked by the pharmacist..so it's not like the wrong meds would go out!

On the weekend we went to the mainland for the memorial for fallen peace/police officers. It was at the peace arch. Lots of uniforms and bagpipes..It was a nice memorial. My parents and my sister and her husband came with me to watch. We had a nice mini visit while there. Saturday night was stayed at the pink palace..they had a transvestite convention at our hotel..lol it was pretty hilarious.. my dad was in the lobby and he was like.. was that a man or a woman? man that was a good looking woman for a guy!

I worked yesterday and today. My boss wasn't there again today.. and I was alone filling prescriptions..its not soo bad..but when youre new and you dont know what things are or where to find them you run around trying to figure it all out and you are on a deadline and then the pharmacists give you more prescripts AFTER you have already sealed the boxes and the delivery guy is waiting to pick up the boxes..UGH! But it is a great job and challenging.. but I couldnt imagine doing it all day!! They say working in a pharmacy is very stressful..now i believe it.. but i thrive on chaos and I am great at multi tasking :)

my feet are killing me and I am tired.. I need to do laundry but it will have to wait til the morning!

So the day before yesterday I went for my job interview.. I was so nervous but after about 5 mins of talking I was relaxed. I was told that they would let me know the next day. After I had been home about 2 hours I got a call. I was sure he was going to tell me that they went with someone else but he said we would like to offer you the job!!! I was like.. really! that is GREAT! Inside I was shitting bricks though :P He said, when can you start and I said tomorrow!

So yesterday I took the bus to town.. I was a bit early so I waited at the library for a bit and I was starting to freak out a bit.. panicking.. etc.. I had to do a lot of self talk!! Then I just put one foot in front of the other and entered the bldg!

I was introduced to everyone. For such a small place it was abuzz with people!
Well what an experience and much more involved than I figured. I was told I would just be starting off slow, cleaning, stocking shelves etc. But I took to my training right away and I was filling prescriptions after an hour being there. I am sure my medical transcription helped with that.

So basically what I do is, I help the pharmacy technician.. A really nice man named Wayne. It is a compounding pharmacy which means they make a lot of the meds on premises. They service a lot of the nursing homes in the area so a lot of the job is filling those prescriptions, then packing them all up on a time limit so the couriers can come and pick them up. So there is a lot of checking and rechecking. They also have individual customers and they stock items for walk in customers but they don't do much business that way. When the orders are all done then I have to go into the recycle room and I have to dispose of the half used meds. I have to black out all the names on the old boxes..and pour the other half used ingredients into the recycle bin they use.

I also have to do some clean up and recycling of paper etc.
I think I will really like this job. My feet are killing me cus I was on them on a concrete floor for 4 hrs straight..but it was challenging and I finally feel like I am using my brain :)

I have been looking for a part-time job lately. Yesterday I was on Craigslist and I saw a job for a Pharmacy Assistant and I thought, what the hay! So I sent in my resume, and low and behold, today I got a call asking me to come in and interview!!! So I am off to do so at 1 pm.
I am nervous but excited. It would be the perfect job for me. It is M-F :)

Barry is going to be starting a new post in his job, which means a regular shift, no more night shifts.YIPPEE! We are going to be going to the mainland in a couple weeks for a parade at the Peace Arch.

Next week is my 45th birthday! UGH! Not sure how we will celebrate.

The Brat started highschool last week, she seems to be liking it ok so far.

I realise it's been quite a while since I updated.. sorry bout that..
lots been going on.. had lots of company.. :)
We did get married on the morning of 8.8.8 ..on a dock overlooking the ocean.. just a few close friends and some family attended :) It was romantic and I cried like a baby ..lol :)

hmm what else? OH Barry got a tattoo.. and I got my nose pierced ..woohoo!

Life is pretty much back to normal.. haven't been doing the WW but I have managed to stay about 2-3lbs above where I was at..so nothing drastic.

You can tell fall is approaching..ugh! Actually I like the fall..but my 45th birthday is approaching as well..oh well Beats the alternative huh?

I will be adding new pics soon. My laptop crapped out on me so we bought a new one, I just have to get a graphics program on here so I can edit my photos.

Had a busy week/end. Had a nice Canada Day. We took a blanket to the waterfront to watch the fireworks. It was short but sweet. We had a bunch of good laughs while we waited for the show to begin.

This past week I did some soul searching and decided to do something that I had been wanting to do for a long time. I revealed my hurt and anger to my "supposed" best friend who had been bringing me down for quite a long time and I decided to just let it be but then I couldn't stand all he negativity so I said something which in turn resulted in her pretty much going apeshit on me. I won't go into details. I basically banished her from my life. Even my 14 y4r old could see how petty and negative this friend was being. I just blocked her emails and won't be in contact with her again. I am a bit sad because I thought we were friends for life but I realized she wasn't a real friend when she just couldn't be happy for me. It's sad when someone is so negative and their life is so lame that they can't be happy for others. She can hide behind her false declarations that she has so many friends and such a happy life but I know better! She used to spend all her spare time with me.. oh ya.. she was just using me to be near someone else.. silly me. I keep forgetting!

If she reads this, yes I read your blog.. and if you think I didn't catch your digs, then you're even more sad than I thought! At any rate, nothing you say hurts me because I consider the source!

So the next morning the allergist's office calls and leaves a messages on my phone. They said, Oh we sent in for your serum on monday! So I am wondering ..why did they wait til this monday to order it when I saw the allergist like 3 weeks ago? Somebody dropped the ball! They expect it to be in their office for pick up on the 23rd. Just in the nick of time. Today I was suffering badly from allergies. Probably because we were visiting the horses, then playing with Abby the dog, and I was doing laundry at the same time and I am highly allergic to the lint that comes out of the lint duct..ugh! So tonight I finally broke down and bought some allergy meds and wow, it knocked me out.. I fell asleep for a couple hours, I was so dopey. It also gave me an upset belly.

This past week was Barry's parents 52nd Anniversary. We bought them some hanging plants.

One day Kaiti and I came home and found this poor little Chickadee sitting on our deck. I think it may have flown into the window and stunned itself. When we tried to pick it up it just flew away.

Barry and I finally found a spot to get married. Under this beautiful tree overlooking the water in Oak Bay. We bought our wedding bands, now to get our invitations sent out and buy our marriage license. We are hoping to go away for the weekend, rent a cottage or something and then a few months after the wedding in the off season, go to the UK :) We are so happy. I have never been in love like this. It is an amazing feeling.

Ticked Off

I am ticked off. A couple months ago I went to the doc to see about allergy testing..as I've mentioned. Well they referred me to a doc and they faxed the info to them. After a month they still hadn't recieved word back from the allergist. Finally they responded and set up an appt. I went, and they said they would call the following monday. NOPE, I waited two weeks. I called and they acted like they had no idea what was going on and they asked for my number and said they would call me right back.. so now it's two days later.. NADDA! So I call and get their damn machine so I left ANOTHER message to call me.. we will see what happens.. dang I could have been on the serum for over a month already!

This past weekend Barry and my parents met. My parents came over from the mainland for the night and we had a family bbq! It went well and we all had a great time. The food was DEElicious!

I need to get a life. Barry was frying eggs and when I went to wash the pan I saw this.. !! which is amazing because Barry wants to get a bull just like this tattooed on his shoulders! Too bad I ate it, cus we could have sold it on ebay? LOL snort

Birthday and Such

Kaitlin turned 14 yesterday! I feel so old knowing my baby is that old! We took her to the mall to eat and to the book stores so she could pick up her fav manga books. She ended up spending about $60 but at least she is happy. As of today she has already read 5 of them!!! sheesh.. READ MUCH.. wonder who she gets that from?

My one lily of the valley has beautiful bells on it now. The rest haven't bloomed at all. Wonder if they will this year or if I will have to wait til next year?

On Wednesday I went for allergy testing. I have had asthma and allergies for years and have never been able to get a doctor to put me on serum so I can feel better, but finally I found one here and as I knew, I have severe allergies. I will be starting the serum soon. I can't wait. I would really love to get a dog. My most severe allergies were to grasses, horses, dogs, cats, molds, dust, trees and a few foods.

Been Busy

Haven't posted in a while. Had a busy long weekend with the Highland Games and Barry having to practise marching for the parade, and the parade itself. The weather was beautiful. We got burnt to a crisp.

This past weekend was mothers day. We spent a bit of the day with Barrys mom and then Kaitlin, Barry and I went for a walk on the beach to look for sea glass and I took some pics of the scenery.
We went to visit and feed the horses again. They have put different horses in the pasture now. There is one really mean horse who bites the other ones (the one in the trendy tartan coat) and chases them around being a bully! I have named him Brutus!
Barry got bitten by one of the horses..another male one!

I went to my second Weight Watchers meeting tonight. I lost 1.8 lbs this week for a two week total loss of 9 lbs! I want to lose about another 15 lbs..or maybe more :)

Catching Up

Been busy the last few days, was hardly online. We got the flowers all done, replanted and watered and I sit and wait for my lily of the valley to bloom LOL. B found another lily for me and we planted it with the others, it already has a stalk on it!

We visited the horses quite a bit and fed them carrots and apples. They are really fun to watch. There is a male one who is pretty aggressive though and he kind of scares me.

I am posting some of the pics of our sushi dinner :) The bento box was so yummy, I will definitely get another one next time we go.

A Bunch of Stuff

Yesterday I was looking at the Ostriches over the fence..and I see this thing that looks like a giant marble.. duh.. its an EGG. I was kind of surprised that it was just sitting there and none of the ostriches were attending to it. Then I looked around and saw several smashed eggs!! Obviously the owners are not worried about breeding these animals, which makes me wonder why do they have them in the first place?

They are very strange looking things, with HUGE feet LOL

I seem to have a new obsession! I love Starbucks mugs LOL. I have more but those were the clean ones at the time. I think I am obsessed with Starbucks in general.

In 2000 I moved to Seattle, at the time I had never drank coffee in my life but as you know if you live in Seattle you MUST drink coffee or you are asked to leave :P My drink of choice is a non-fat, grande, white chocolate mocha, no whip, extra hot! Since starting my Weight Watchers diet I haven't had one. I just can't justify using those 5-7 points when I could eat a whole lot of food for the same amount, although.. drinking coffee like this seems to curb my hunger for hours.. hmmm!

Spring has Sprung

Yesterday B bought the bbq he's been wanting for a while. He set it up and cooked us some yummy steaks. It was my last supper before joining WW.

Yup I rejoined Weight Watchers . The weight is sneaking back on and I do NOT want to be fat ever again so I go on Tuesdays now.

I am soooooooooooooooooooooooo Happy.. yesterday B bought me something that I've been wanting since I was a young girl. LILY OF THE VALLEY, my absolute favorite flower of all time.

They are only leaves right now but they will bloom soon and I will be ecstatic :) I will document their progress on here :)

Kaiti and I went for coffee this past weekend. We sat outside and enjoyed the sunshine.

We are so lucky to live where we do. Their are some beautiful horses that we get to watch frolicking in the fields. I wish I wasn't allergic to them so I could enjoy them more.

Still no word on when I will go see the allergist.. ugh!

Woke up this morning to a beautiful sunrise... so of course I took some pics LOL

I had a terrible time with my computer yesterday, all because I was trying to remove a stupid Microsoft product. It ended up screwing with my antivirus that I had installed and I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and it just wasn't working. I even did a system restore which made things worse! Today I have managed to work around it and come up with a fix I can live with! Let's keep our fingers crossed that it keeps working.

This afternoon before B went to work we stopped off at the hall that we'd like to rent for our wedding. The lady we talked to was very nice and showed us around. The only problem is .. they might be booked for the weekend we want so we have to wait until the end of the week to find out. I sure hope we don't have to change our wedding date AGAIN!

We went to Wal-Mart to pick up B's glasses and I bought a few things I needed. We came home and just lounged around until it was time for B to go to work. I hadn't eaten all day so I made some chicken nuggets..YUMMO!

I have been reading a really good book, Until You Are Dead. It is about a Canadian man who was falsely accused of murder back in the 50's who served time in prison and was even supposed to be executed but apparently he was kept in jail for many years... I love to read about serial killers, mass murderers, murder in general and crime. Some people think that is very strange. It's not a morbid fascination that I have, simply I like to read about the criminal mind because it is so far from who I am and I find it very interesting.

What a busy and crazy week. A few days ago it was like summer out.. then yesterday it starts snowing!

There are a lot of flowers blooming around here and we always drive by this farm with daffodils.. I just HAD to take a pic..

Kaiti and I took advantage of the nice weather last week and took a walk down the old dirt road by our house. Of course being the photography nut that I am, I had to take pics of that too ! lol

I think Barry and I have found a venue for our wedding. It is literally 2 mins from our house. We can have the ceremony in the back yard, and the reception in the hall and its only $200!

We have also decided on our wedding colors. We are going with shades of Blue and Yellow.

I haven't decided if I will wear a wedding dress or just a formal dress of some sort. Lots to think about still, but at least we have the venue figured out! phew!

It's Gonna Be a Hot One

They have forcasted it to be in the low 20's today. I have no faith in weathermen...
So, I got up at 5am with Barry and had this beautiful site out my living room window..

It's a tad blurry..it was 5 am.. whaddyawant!

Kaiti and I went to a garage sale down the street at 9 am. We found some goodies. I collect glass and I found a few choice items :)(pictures to follow). I also like Scottish things, so I bought a tartan tin, and some records, two bagpiper ones and a Bay City Roller album.. all in excellent condition.
I also bought a mini picture of the local parliment buildings here.
Kaitlin bought a cup and saucer and a chinese soup bowl and spoon.
Eclectic bunch we are! lol

We are off to the library today. We attemped to join the local library last week and were told we live in the wrong jurisdiction so today we are trying another library..sheesh!

Hopefully the weather man is right and today will be hot and sunny!

The Parental Units

Yesterday my parents came over from the mainland to visit. We had a nice time. We went for lunch and drove around. My dad is an ex military guy so we took him to some Air Force related stores so he could look at all the goodies. I bought him a nice t-shirt for a souvenir. The time went too quickly, like it always does. We drove them back to the ferry around 5.

I have been suffering from allergies lately. I am not sure if its just a seasonal thing or if it could be related to the fact that we live near so many animals and trees, and fields now LOL! I finally caved in and went to the clinic and the Doc gave me a prescription for Flonase and another spray to try. He also is referring me to an allergist as I want to get shots for my allergies. I am told there is a long waiting list so I am waiting to hear back from them.

I was pretty tired after all this running around and was ready to crash then Barry said that we were going to the gym!!! I'm glad I went. I mostly focused on my abs and hips. I need to get my ass in gear and lose my 15-20 lbs before the wedding. We also need to get on program with that as well.

Today I am going to be doing laundry and just catching up on stuff around here. I'm pretty sure we will be back at the gym tonight..depending on how tired Barry is after work.

Move Moving..UGH

Today we moved a bunch of boxes to our storage area at the new place. Its about a 40 min round trip. Ya, I am pretty sick of cleaning, packing and moving LOL but I know it will be worth it in the end.

We had wacko weather today.. it was actually snowing.. then a few hours later it was beautiful and sunny. Living here on the island is pretty great though. We see wildlife almost every day. Today we saw a deer!

Tonight we are doing..guess what?.. MORE moving of boxes :P

I'm sitting here eating Dove chocolate.. not at all condusive to a Bride's figure! I will deal with those 15-20 lbs after we move! I haven't gained so that's good!

A Moving Experience

Before Barry and I can concentrate on our wedding, first we have to deal with our upcoming move. We are very unhappy with our living situation right now as our landlords are extremely noisy, so we have decided to move to a new place. We got a great little place out in the country.
We are pretty excited with the move. We will be moving in on the coming weekend.

We have a great view from our living room window and there is an ostrich farm beside us .. of all things. We took a drive out today and I took some pics. I will post them later.

We had a great day today. The weather was beautiful. We spent the day doing last minute things for our move ie, getting boxes and transfering our cable etc.

Counting down the days.. 5 days!!

In The Beginning

Barry and I have set a wedding date. September 20th 2008. The day before my birthday.

I will be documenting the planning, and the event, as well as life in general. So far we don't have any concrete plans for the venue or anything at all really. All we do know is it will be a small, semi-formal occasion. Barry will be wearing his dress uniform. I haven't decided if I will go formal or just dressy.
